Joining Method SV Gasket

Image provided by Ferris State University

The SV gasket joining method is most often used with cast iron soil pipe.  These joints are semi-rigid, water tight connections of two or more pieces of pipe or fittings.  SV gasket joining is mostly used in applications involving sanitary waste, drain waste and vent, and sewer systems.  These gaskets are designed to be very rigid under normal conditions, but still provide sufficient flexibility under adverse conditions.  This joining method, if installed properly, last equally as long as cast iron soil pipe and can be installed in walls, underground, and in other inaccessible places.
